How I Created My Digital Closet
I have always fantasized about both fashion and technology, ever since I saw Cher use a computer to pick out her outfits in the 90’s classic, ‘Clueless’. Fast forward to 2021, and technology has finally democratized the access to a tech closet!
For the cost of a latte, (~$4 USD) you can have a digital closet, which allows you to plan outfits, keep track of colors, cost, brands etc.
I have been using a Stylebook for just a while, it is a tedious process to upload your clothes, but I can tell you it totally pays off.
Stylebook can be downloaded on your phone and ipad. I started on my phone but ipad is much more user friendly in my opinion.
Here is a list of reasons I enjoy the App, and some lessons learned for using the app and learning from my mistakes!
Why I love it:
I Am More Aware While Shopping: It helps me keep track of what clothes I have at home while shopping. Having that inventory at my fingertips allows me to be less wasteful financially and materially with my purchases.
I Can Put Together Outfits: The app allows for you to create and save outfits by category. It is fully customizable, so I was able to add a “WFH” and “Weekend Gear” category for example.
Style Stats: Style stats are super fun and insightful, allowing you to filter by color, brand, season, cost, etc. Another neat feature about style stats is keeping track of the value of the items you have, calculating a total coset cost.
Calendar: I can appreciate a calendar, and one with my outfits is super helpful, this helps me know what clothes I need for the whole week, and helps contribute to the “cost per wear” stat.
Packing List: You can create packing lists, naming them after you destination, including clothing, looks, and notes.
I do not use all the features of the app, to see a full list, check out their feature list here: Stylebook Features.
