Knowing Yourself In Business

 Knowing Yourself In Business

Knowing yourself is one of the best things you can do for your career. This is true for big business, as well as small operations, and really any role that is played in business.

It is important for…

  • the every day grind

  • understanding your learning style

  • created a career plan that really takes what makes you happy and thrive into consideration

  • Self evaluation and taking external feedback and criticism

  • the list really goes on and on; taking action on this as early as possible will yield the most benefits.

The following links are just suggestions and I have no affiliations or associations with these organizations outside from taking the tests myself and utilizing their services.

I have tried my best to share free resources, but some are at a cost, I have taken and paid for most of these assessments myself, and see it as an investment in self development, which is extremely important and should pay off.

Ways to Take Action:

  1. Know your Strengths and Weaknesses

This is one of those classic questions you come across but don’t know how to answer. The key here is to consider a list of traits that are all positive and not negative, the one you have the strongest skills in are your top strengths, the items at the bottom are ones you can work on. Everyone has core capabilities, it is important to know what those are and play to your strengths. If it benefits you, you can work on improving “weaknesses”.

  2. Know your Personality Type

There are many models developed to understanding personality types.

the study of personality types has expanded through the years but the most popular assessment remains the MBTI.

  3. Know and Understand your Values

This is separate from understanding your interests or weaknesses or personality, this is understanding what you want to invest your time in. Values determine what you think is important, unlike personality, values can and will change over time.

  4. Keep a Journal

I am big on having a planner and journaling in general. Doing a quick search on “journal prompts for self exploration” will lead to many results online.
